Welcome to Broadcast Journalism!Broadcast Journalism is a hands-on, technology based course which introduces students to the everyday dealings of electronic media using rapidly changing global technologies.
We will begin by producing a five minute weekly radio news program and lead up to a daily five minute radio news program. In the second semester, periodical features, such as "Spotlight On," "Sports Weekly," etc., will be added. In addition, a video feature will also be produced on a periodical basis in the second semester. Emphasis will be on the importance of timing, scheduling, preparedness, immediacy, and other characteristics of a live broadcast. Because producing the news requires teamwork, you will work in production groups. On days that a group is not on the air, you will be working on research and preparation for future shows as well as other topics of study. As these other units are presented, students will be expected to incorporate newly acquired skills into subsequent news groups. Programs will be aired lived on the in-school radio station. They will also be recorded and uploaded as podcasts. Video broadcasts will be uploaded in the same manner. |
