2. Clustering

3. Cut

recording of a voicer, wrap, actuality, or nat sound; networks feed cuts to affiliates via satellite
4. Incue (IQ)

the first few words of a cut
to help identify the correct actuality, voicer, natsound, etc.
5. Outcue (OC)

the last few words of a cut
to help engineer and director know when to cue the newscaster to resume reading
6. Pronouncer

a phonetic spelling of a
name, place, object, or process that may be unfamiliar to the anchor
7. Segue

transition between parts of
a presentation, leads into the next story by tying it to the preceding story
8. Slug
- single word identifier for a news story
9. Stacking

the procedure for ordering
stories within the segments of the newscast
10. TRT

12. Tease

brief phrase spoken by the
anchor immediately before playing a spot or going to traffic (or some other interruption of the newscast) to tell the listener about a story coming up later; the tease
should intrigue the listener without either
misrepresenting the story
or revealing it entirely
